Week 10 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the Week 10 fantasy injuries and my commentary.

TE Todd Heap (Ankle) - Questionable- He missed a portion of practice on Thursday but was able to participate in full practice on Friday. It appears extremely likely that he will play. Start him unless you confirm he will not play.

WR David Givens (Hand)- Questionable- He has two torn ligaments in his thumb. He practiced all week. He is a game time decision. If he plays, I would expect him to struggle against a tough Ravens Defense. The Titans passing attack is not very good at this point.

RB Willis McGahee (Ribs) -Out- He might miss up to four weeks. He has two cracked ribs and a broken one.

WR Josh Reed (Kidney) - Out- He is out for the week but he should not be started even when he is at full health.

RB Joseph Addai (Wrist) - Questionable - He practiced all week. He has been the man in Indy the last two weeks. He will be a good start for you.

WR Brandon Stokley (Knee) - Questionable - He is not expected to play. He has only played in 2 games all year. Do not expect this to be the third.

WR Bernard Berrian (Ribs) - Questionable - He was upgraded to questionable on Friday. He has not been a great play in the last couple of games because of Grossman's issues with the passing game. Keep him on the bench this week.

WR Amani Toomer (Knee) - Out - He was placed on the Injured Reserved for the year. He is done.

WR Plaxico Burress (Back) - Questionable- Burress practiced on Thursday and Friday. He made the comment that Chicago's Defense is nothing big. He may be talking too much but he is still a fantasy must start player.

WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep)- Questionable- The report out of New York is that he will not play again this weekend.

WR Joe Jurevicius (Back) - Questionable- It appears that he will play this weekend. Last year, he was a great mid season pick up. This year, he is not worth your time.

TE Kellen Winslow (Knee) - Questionable - Kellen appears ready to go again this weekend. He will need surgery after the season. Currently, it does not appear to be an issue with his performance.

WR Dennis Northcutt (Ribs) - Probable- He was upgraded to probable. He is not a very good fantasy start.

TE Alge Crumpler (Ankle) - Questionable- He practiced fully on Friday. He should be fine to play this weekend. You might want to verify on Sunday morning but he should be good to start.

WR Ashley Lelie (Groin) - Questionable- He also practiced fully on Friday. It appears that Lelie will play this weekend. He is a marginal starter at best.

RB Jerious Norwood (Knee)- Questionable- He missed practice all week. I would not count on him. He is not a good start when health but he is a fine keeper in keeper leagues.

WR Terry Glenn (Quadricep) - Probable- He may be listed as probable but the reports out of Dallas is that Glenn did not even catch the flight with the team. Do not start him this week.

WR Larry Fitzgerald (Hamstring)- Probable- He practiced all week. You can not afford to leave him on the bench.

RB Tatum Bell (Toe) - Probable- He practiced on Friday and was upgraded to probable. He is likely to split time with Mike Bell and Cobbs. I would not start him until you see that he is still the man in Denver and can make cuts on the turf Toe.

WR Rod Smith (Shoulder) - Probable- He practiced on Thursday and Friday. He will play on Sunday. He is a decent number 3 starter against the RAIDERS.

QB Aaron Brooks (Shoulder) - Questionable- He practiced all week. The QB starter has not been announced. He is not worth starting even if he is the starter.

TE Randal Williams (Back) - Questionable- He practiced on Thursday and Friday. He started last week. He is nothing more than a number 3 TE.

RB Justin Fargas (Shoulder)- Probable- He is likely to play this weekend. He only had one carry last week. He is not worth owning.

RB LaMont Jordan (Back) - Probable- He practiced Thursday and Friday. Right now, the starting Running back for the Raiders is not worth starting.

RB Vernand Morency (Back) - Doubtful- He has been ruled out for the week. He appears to be loosing he grip on the backup role. Stay tuned when he does return.

WR Greg Jennings (Ankle) - Questionable- He is not expected to play this weekend. He has had a really good rookie year. He usually is worthy of a number 3 starting WR.

TE Bubba Franks (Wrist)- Probable- Bubba will play but he is not getting many looks. He is being used primarily for blocking.

RB Ahman Green (Knee)- Probable- He practiced fully on Thursday and Friday. He is a marginal fantasy starter.

WR Marcus Robinson (Back) - Out- He is out and it does not appear like he will be back very soon.

RB Chester Taylor (Calf) - Probable- Chester will be playing this weekend. He is a good number 2 running back. He should have a good weekend against the Packers' Defense.

QB Byron Leftwich (Ankle) - Questionable- It is unlikely for him to play this weekend. When he is back, he will be facing a QB controversy.

RB Fred Taylor (Groin) - Probable- He is facing the Texans this weekend. He will play and should have a good game. With Drew playing, will Taylor have his goal line carries sniped away?

QB Trent Green (Head) - Questionable- He has not been medically cleared to play. If he is able to make it back this weekend, will the Chiefs give him the ball or leave it in Huard's hot hands?

QB Daunte Culpepper (Knee) - Doubtful- He will not play. Do yourself a favor and do not think about him for the rest of the year.

TE Ernie Conwell (Knee) - Out- He is inactive again this weekend. It depends on how fast he can heal from knee surgery if he will have any value during the rest of the year.

WR Joe Horn (Groin) -Doubtful- He missed part of the practice on Friday. He was then downgraded to Doubtful. He is not a safe play this weekend even if he starts.

RB Reggie Bush (Ankle) - Probable- He practiced all week. He is facing a might Steeler Run Defense. I would leave Reggie on the Bench.

WR Willie Reid (Foot) - Out - He continues to be out and not practicing. His fantasy potential is small and shrinking by the day.

RB Najeh Davenport (Knee) - Probable- He will play. His role appears to be very limited.

WR Laveranues Coles (Calf) - Questionable- He should play this weekend. He is a strong play against New England.

WR Tim Dwight (Thigh) - Questionable- He did not practice all week. It does not appear that he will play. He is not a good play any week.

RB Kevan Barlow (Calf) - Probable- He has been splitting carries in practice with Washington. He will play but is value continues to diminish.

QB Chad Pennington (Calf) - Probable- Chad will play but he has not had a great year. He is valuable as a backup in your league but not as a starter.

TE Daniel Graham (Ankle) - Questionable- He is out for the week. He is not a great start when he is healthy.

RB Laurence Maroney (Ankle) - Questionable- It appears that Maroney will play. He should have a good game against the swiss cheese Jets run defense.

QB Tom Brady (Shoulder) - Probable- Tom will play. He had a horrible week last week. Do not expect it to happen again this week against the Jets.

WR Vincent Jackson (Ankle) - Probable- He practiced all week but has had a disappointing rookie year. He is a great keeper but not a starter this year.

WR Kelley Washington (Hamstring) - Out- He will not play this weekend. He has had a disappointing year of injuries.

RB Rudi Johnson (Thigh) - Probable- He appears to be safe to play this weekend. San Diego is a tough defense. Rudi is a must play.

TE Vernon Davis (Fibula) - Doubtful - He missed practice all week. He will be watching from street clothes this weekend.

RB Brian Calhoun (Knee) - Out - His ACL injuring has landed him on the Injured Reserve. He is done for the year.

RB Shaun Alexander (Foot) - Doubtful- He looks like he will be back next week. He will be a nice addition to your team for the playoffs, if you can make it to the playoffs without him.

QB Matt Hasselbeck (Knee) - Doubtful- He might be back for next week also. If they get both him and Alexander, the Seahawks could start making a lot of noise.

WR Nate Burleson (Foot)- Questionable- He is a game time decision. He is not a great start unless you get yardage points for punts.

WR Bobby Engram (Illness)- Questionable- He practiced on Friday. Even if he plays, he is not expected to play more than a few snaps.

TE Chris Cooley (Shoulder) - Probable- He practiced all week. He has 3 touchdowns in the last 3 weeks. He is a great start.

WR Brandon Lloyd (Groin) - Probable- He appears to be starting for the Redskins on the other side of Moss. Lloyd is not a good start this week.

WR Santana Moss (Hamstring) - Probable- It is possible that he might not play this weekend. I would put him in the starting lineup but then check on Sunday morning to verify that he is playing this weekend.

RB Brian Westbrook (Ankle) - Probable- He practiced all week. He will play and you should start him.

Week 9 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the Week 9 fantasy injuries and my commentary.

WR Kelley Washington (Hamstring) - Out- with Chris Henry back from suspension, Washington’s value is very low.

TE Todd Heap (Thigh)-Probable- He missed practice on Friday but was upgraded to probable. It appears that Todd will play.

WR Dennis Northcutt (Ribs) - Questionable – Northcutt will be a game day decision. He is the number 3 WR for the Browns. He has caught a whole 13 catches so far. He is not worth starting.

TE Kellen Winslow (Knee) - Questionable – The AP is reporting that he will play. Winslow is a must start.

WR Terry Glenn (Quadricep) - Probable- He missed part of practice on Friday. He is expected to start anyway. With Tony Romo starting at QB, Glenn has not been receiving as many looks. He is still a fantasy starter but lower your expectations.

WR Santana Moss (Hamstring) - doubtful – He missed practice on Friday and was downgraded to doubtful. Let him stay on your bench.

WR Brandon Lloyd (Shoulder) - Probable – He practiced on Friday. He is expected to start with Moss doubtful. He is not a good fantasy start even when in the starting lineup.

WR David Patten (Hamstring) – Probable – His hamstring is still an issue. He is not a fantasy player that should be kept on your roster.

RB Clinton Portis (Ankle) – Probable – He practiced on Friday. He will play against the Cowboys. He is a fantasy starter every week.

WR Antwaan Randle El (Heel) – Probable – Randle El is a big part of the offense. Not only is he the WR #3 but he is a punt returner and rushes end arounds. He is a better play than Lloyd but should not be a consistent starter on your team.

RB Tatum Bell (Toe) - Probable – He practiced with no restrictions. He should be back this week. He has questionable fantasy value this week while playing against the Steelers and with the big game that Mike Bell had last week. It would be safer to leave him on the bench until we know what his role will be.

WR Santonio Holmes (Shoulder) – Probable- It appears that Holmes will play with no issues. This rookie is having a good season. It will not be long before he is a starter for the Steelers.

WR Cedrick Wilson (Groin) - Probable- He practiced fully on Friday. He should be starting for the Steelers. Look for Holmes to steal some catches from him.

RB Vernand Morency (Back) – Out – He is out at least 2 weeks. He was starting to steal carries from Green but now he is out. He is worth keeping in a keeper league.

WR Greg Jennings (Ankle) – Questionable – He practiced a second straight day on Friday. He has had a good rookie year. He is a marginal fantasy starter.

RB Ahman Green (Knee) – Probable – He practiced Thursday and Friday with no issues. He will not be splitting time with Morency out. He is a safe number 2 starter.

RB Ron Dayne (Illness) - Probable – He should be able to play with no issues on Sunday. He will be Lundy’s backup. He has no fantasy values.

WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep) - Doubtful – Moss continues his stay on the disabled list. He may end up on the IR for the year yet.

WR Plaxico Burress (Back Spasms) – Questionable – He missed practice all week. It does not look like Burress will be able to go on Sunday.

RB Joseph Addai (Wrist) – Questionable – This may be part of the game the Patriots and Colts are playing. He finished strong last week. The Pats have a very good run defense so he may not be a good start. I strongly believe that he will play with no issues this weekend.

RB Dominic Rhodes (Low Back) – Questionable – Rhodes is in the boat as Addai. He has not been as good as Addai. I would leave Rhodes on the bench even though he will play.

WR Brandon Stokley (Knee) – Questionable – He has continued to miss part of practice. He is one that I believe really is questionable. He is not a good gamble for this weekend.

K Adam Vinatieri (Right Groin) - Probable – He is just fine. Start him this weekend. He always kicks well in Foxboro. Of course, he is now on the other team but he should still have a good game.

RB Kevin Faulk (Ankle) – Probable – He has bee upgraded to probable. He will play on passing downs. He has limited value as a pass catching back.

TE Daniel Graham (Ankle) – Questionable – His injury is real. He may or may not play on Sunday. He is does not have any fantasy value even if he does play.

WR Chad Jackson (Hamstring) – Questionable – It appears that Jackson is another player on the list for the mind games of these two teams. He should play on Sunday. He is not a fantasy starter at this time but a great keeper league player.

RB Laurence Maroney (Ankle) – Questionable – He practiced with no issues on Friday. More mind games instead of injury was involved with his questionable status. He has had some great fantasy starts followed by some awful fantasy starts. He continues to split carries with Dillon. He is a great fantasy keeper and a fine off week starter.

QB Tom Brady (Shoulder) – Probable – Nothing appears to be wrong with Brady. He continues to be a must start fantasy player.

QB Daunte Culpepper (Knee) – Doubtful – The Dolphins may put him on season ending IR. At this point, he is not worth keeping on your team.

WR Marcus Robinson (Back) – Out – He missed practice and was downgraded to out.

TE Vernon Davis (Fibula) – Out – He may be able to return week 10. He will have a lot of work to do to be back to a fantasy option.

RB Reggie Bush (Ankle) – Questionable – He practiced on Friday. Bush should be on the field this weekend. He has been a very spotting fantasy option. It is hard to leave him out of the line up with his potential.

WR Joe Horn (Groin) – Questionable – He is a game time decision. He did practice in a limited capacity this week. The New Orleans press seems to think he will play this weekend. I would not play him unless you see confirmation that he will start.

QB Chris Simms (Splenectomy) - Out- He has been added the IR and ended his season. We saw this coming several weeks ago. He has limited potential in a keeper league.

WR David Givens (Hand) – Questionable – He practiced all week. He is estimated at 85% healthy. He will be splitting time. He is not a good starter this week or in the foreseeable future.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew (Thigh) – Probable – He had a good weekend last weekend. He is splitting some carries with Taylor. He is not a good fantasy gamble until Taylor gets injured. Taylor is usually injured long before this part of the season.

RB Fred Taylor (Thigh) – Probable – Taylor will play on Sunday. He has had a very solid year. Owners should start him but hold their breath every time he is tackled because of his extensive injury history.

WR Ernest Wilford (Hamstring) – Probable – Wilford will play. It appears that he is loosing his starting status with the Jags since Matt Jones is back. He should also loose any starting fantasy status. He will have a hard time getting the ball.

QB Aaron Brooks (Shoulder) – Doubtful – He returned to practice this week. It does not appear that he will win back the starting job unless Walter is injured.

RB LaMont Jordan (Back) – Questionable – Jordan practiced all week. He should start with no issues. Until the Raiders prove they can run the ball, Jordan is a risky fantasy starter.

RB Shaun Alexander (Foot) – Out – It is possible that he might return for week 10. With an injured foot, will he be back to the fantasy stud of last year? Only time will tell.

QB Matt Hasselbeck (Knee) – Out - Hasselbeck is not expected to return until week 11 at the earliest. Wallace continues to start in his place.

WR Bobby Engram (Illness) – Questionable – The word out of Seattle is that Engram will not play this weekend.

WR Darrell Jackson (Foot) – Probable – He has declared himself ready to play for this weekend. Jackson should be healthy enough to be a good start against the Raiders.

Week 8 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the week 8 fantasy injuries and thoughts.

WR Larry Fitzgerald (Hamstring) - Doubtful - He missed practice all week. Denny Green has does not think that Larry will play until after their off week- week 9.

WR Anquan Boldin (Back) - Probable - He missed practice on Friday with his back. There does not seem to be enough wrong for Boldin not to play. He will play and you should be starting him.

WR Greg Jennings -Doubtful - He is a game time decision. The chances of him playing are slim. Put him on your bench.

RB Ahman Green (Knee) - Probable - Ahman practiced on Friday. He should be a solid starter as a #2 RB against Arizona. He is only a good spot starter depending on match ups.

WR Antonio Chatman (Groin) -Out - Bengals put him on the IR this week. He is done for the year.

WR Kelley Washington (Hamstring) - Out - He is out for week. He might become the number 3 Wide Receiver when he is back. Hold on to him for now.

RB Rudi Johnson (Back) - Probable - He practiced on Friday. He is ready to play. The Falcons' run defense has been beat up and suspect the last few weeks. This should be a good match up.

QB Steve McNair (Head) - Probable - He practiced Friday without any issues. He was upgraded to probable from Questionable. He should be on the field this weekend. The only reason to start McNair is for an off week.

RB Deuce McAllister (Hamstring) - Probable - Deuce practiced all week. He is playing against the Ravens who are the # 2 defense against the run. It would be difficult not to play Deuce if you have him but if you have other good options; you might want to examine them.

RB DeAngelo Williams (Ankle) - Questionable - He did practice Friday after not practicing all week. He is thought to be a game time decision. I would lean to the thought he will not play until after next week's off week.

TE Jeb Putzier (Foot) - Doubtful - He was downgraded on Friday to Doubtful. He is listed as a game time decision. It does not look good for Putzier to play. He should not be your starter anyway. Leave him on your bench. You should have a better option.

WR Eric Moulds (Thigh) - Probable - Moulds will play this weekend. He is a playable option for an off week.

WR David Givens (Hand) - Questionable - He is another game time decision. He has sleeper potential for the second half of the fantasy season. He also has a high bust potential. He will probably break the starting line up for the Titans when he returns.

WR Brandon Jones (Chest) - Questionable - He is not expected to play this week. His fantasy value is only slight. He has some keeper value.

WR Brandon Stokley (Knee) - Questionable -He continues to miss practices and games. It does not appear that he will be back this weekend. When he returns, his role is expected to be minimal.

K Adam Vinatieri (Right Groin) - Probable - He kicked last weekend and he will kick this weekend. He is a must play every week.

RB Tatum Bell (Toe) - Probable - He practiced with no issues all week. He has become a stud since taking over the full time job in Denver. He will start and you should be starting him.

WR Matt Jones (Hamstring) - Questionable - He practiced all week. It appears that he will be playing on Sunday. He will have a backup QB tossing the ball so it would be safer to leave him on the bench.

QB Byron Leftwich (Ankle) - Out - He did not practice and has been downgraded to out. He is having personal issues with his coach. Be aware that the situation could get out of control and lower Leftwich's value.

TE L.J. Smith (Back) -Questionable - He practiced all week. He will start. He has had a good season. No reason to keep him on the bench.

WR Reggie Brown (Quadricep) - Probable - Brown will be on the field but so will Stallworth. What will Reggie's value be with Stallworth back? You have to lower him from a solid number 3 Wide out to a solid off week replacement.

WR Donte' Stallworth (Hamstring) - Probable - Stallworth has practiced all week. He should be starting this week. Will he pick back up where he left off as McNabb's go to guy? We will have to wait and see. It would be difficult to keep him on your fantasy bench.

RB Brian Westbrook (Knee) - Probable - There is no doubt that Westbrook will play. I did not think he would play last week and I regretted benching him (214 yards and a touchdown on 20 touches). He is a must start.

WR Laveranues Coles (Calf) - Questionable - He did not practice at all on Friday. I would make him a Sunday morning decision.

RB Cedric Houston (Knee) - Questionable - He is not expected to play this weekend. In the Jets running back by committee situation, I would continue to keep him on your bench even when he comes back.

RB Kevan Barlow (Calf) - Probable - He will play but is in the dreaded Running Back by committee. Leave him on your bench if you can.

TE Kellen Winslow (Knee) - Questionable - After practicing all week, there is no excuse not to start Winslow. He is a fantasy must start.

QB Ben Roethlisberger (Concussion) - Questionable - He is truly questionable and a game time decision. After a concussion, I would be cautious of starting him until he has a game under his belt.

WR Santonio Holmes (Toe) - Probable - He will play and has started to play well for a rookie. He has sleeper potential for the second half of the season.

WR Nate Washington (Thumb) - Probable - Washington will be playing. He has played well of late. I would not take a chance on Washington yet. Keep an eye on him and see how much playing time he gets.

WR Cedrick Wilson (Groin) - Probable - He is the third probable WR for the Steelers. He will play. He is worth an off week start if you don't have a high quality number 4 WR.

RB LaMont Jordan (Back) - Questionable - The Raiders seem to believe that he will play. It is hard to start him with the current state of the Raiders. Since they are playing the Steelers, it makes it almost impossible to start him and feel secure. Since he is still listed as questionable, you should get therapy if you start him. You will need it.

RB Justin Fargas (Shoulder) - Probable - It is more certain that Fargas will play than Jordan but there is no reason to start him.

QB Matt Hasselbeck (Knee) - Out - Matt is not expected to be back until week 11. The injuries to the Seahawks have devastated several fantasy teams.

RB Shaun Alexander (Foot) - Doubtful- He will not play this weekend. He might be back for week 9. Continue to have faith that he will save your season once he is back.

WR Bobby Engram (Illness) - Questionable - It does not appear that he will play this weekend. We are unsure what his role will be when he returns because of the play of Branch.

QB Trent Green (Head) - Out - There is no truth to the rumor. Since the concussion, Green does not really think he is Batman. He might think he is Troy Aikman but not Batman.

QB Damon Huard (Groin) - Questionable - Huard is expected to play. He has played decently since Green's concussion. He would be serviceable for an off week but not as your weekly starter.

TE Vernon Davis (Fibula) - Out - He is probably out for a couple more weeks. He should not be your starter. If you have him as a keeper, then stash him away. Otherwise, you should let him go.

TE Antonio Gates (Hip) - Probable - Antonio will play. He is on track to be the best fantasy TE in the league again. Start him and enjoy the fact that he is on your team.

WR Vincent Jackson (Groin) - Probable - Jackson will play this week but he has not had much fantasy value. He is a great keeper with huge upside. Stash him away on your bench if you’re in a keeper league.

QB Chris Simms (Splenectomy) - Out - Tampa Bay continues to hold onto hope that Chris might be able to play this year. I continue to expect them to put him on the IR for the season.

WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep) - Out - He continues to be downgraded to out every week. He has been injured since July. Do not expect much when he comes back other than as a returner.

WR Plaxico Burress (Heel) - Probable - Here is a nagging issue that will not keep him off of the field. He is a solid number 2 to 3 starter.

RB Kevin Faulk (Ankle) TE - Questionable - He is a game day decision. Faulk does not have enough value to start even for off weeks.

Daniel Graham (Ankle) - Questionable - It does not look like Graham will probably play. You should not hold onto hope that Graham will be anything other than a third TE for your team.

WR Marcus Robinson (Back) - Questionable - Marcus will not play on Monday night. Keep him on your bench. The questionable status appears to be Coaching manipulation issue. Ignore it.

WR Troy Williamson (Concussion) - Questionable - It is never a good thing when a receiver has an MRI on Friday. Do not start him this week.

WR Travis Taylor (Concussion) - Probable - He practiced on Friday in a limited role. Taylor may start by default. He came into this league with a lot of hype and has never lived up to it. Try to find a better option to start.

Week 7 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Week 7 Injuries and comments.

WR Larry Fitzgerald (Hamstring) - Doubtful- Arizona is being very careful with Fitzgerald. Since Bryant Johnson has been playing well in place of Fitzgerald, they can make sure that Fitzgerald is fully healthy before bringing him back. It is hard to keep a stud on the bench but keep him there this week.

QB Aaron Brooks (Shoulder) - Out- He is out but he is getting close to coming back. He might practice next week. He is not a keeper even when he is back and starting. If you have held on to him, it is time to cut your losses.

RB Justin Fargas (Shoulder) - Questionable- He is a backup in a bad offense. He might have some value if Jordan goes down for an off week but I would not count on it. He did practice the last couple of days.

RB LaMont Jordan (Back) - Probable- He practiced Thursday and Friday. He will start against Arizona. He might be a decent choice for an off week this week.

RB DeAngelo Williams (Ankle) - Doubtful- He will not play this week. He participated in rehabilitation drills during practice this week. It might be a few weeks before he is back.

WR Kelley Washington (Hamstring) - Out- This is a bad time for Washington to be out with a hamstring. He was going to the 3rd receiver with Henry’s suspension but now Washington is out. It looks like he will be out for several weeks.

WR Chad Johnson (Shoulder) - probable- He was able to fully practice on Friday. The local media does not see this injury as a concern. You should not either. Start him and smile about it.

TE Kellen Winslow (Knee) - Questionable- He practiced all week. He is an elite TE. Denver is tough against TE but start him anyway.

WR Laveranues Coles (Calf) - Questionable- He missed part of practice this week. New York Media has not even asked about it so they do not think that it is an issue but I would be a bit more cautious with Coles. Keep an eye on him and make him a game day decision.

RB Kevan Barlow (Calf) - Probable – Kevan will play. He is splitting some carries with Rookie Leon Washington so he is not a fantasy stud but can be a good spot starter.

QB Chad Pennington (Calf) - Probable- Pennington appears to be fine. He continues to be a decent backup.

QB. WR Robert Ferguson (Foot) - Out- Ferguson may be out for the year. He has a Lisfranc foot injury. Ferguson is a former fantasy stud but that has been a while. It is time to move on past Ferguson.

RB Ahman Green (Hamstring) - Probable- Green will play this week. He is injured prone and he has very little tread on his tires. He is good for an occasional off week start.

WR Wes Welker (Calf) - Questionable- Wes was able to practice fully on Thursday and Friday. I would not start any Dolphin receiver that is not named Chambers.

WR Matt Jones (Hamstring) - Out- This year was suppose to be Matt's start to fantasy stardom but has turned into a season on the injured list.

QB Byron Leftwich (Ankle) - Questionable- He did not practice on Friday and will have an MRI on his left ankle. Bench him for this week and see how he is next week.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew (Foot) - Probable -Maurice had a full week of practice. It appears that he will play on Sunday. He has been splitting some time with Taylor. He is a great keeper and should get a real shot when Taylor gets injured. He is not really worth starting until then.

WR Reggie Williams (Shoulder) - Probable -Reggie also practiced all week. He will play. He is starting to develop into the receiver that they thought he would be when they drafted him in the top ten a couple of years ago. He is a decent number 3 receiver. He is a better off week replacement. He is some to hold onto in a keeper league.

TE Jeb Putzier (Foot) - Questionable - He has missed a portion of practice all week long. He is not a safe play for this weekend. He is not a typical fantasy starter. Find someone else to start at TE.

TE. RB Shaun Alexander (Foot) - Out- All indications point to him being out until week 9. He will be back for the final push to your fantasy playoffs, if you are not mathematically out by the time he gets back.

WR Bobby Engram (Illness)- Out - Bobby continues to be out with Graves disease. He supposedly will be able to practice next week. With Branch emerging with Seattle, it might be too late for Engram to keep his starting job.

RB Kevin Faulk (Ankle)- Questionable -Kevin will be a game time decision. He is not a great start any week. Keep him on the bench.

TE Daniel Graham (Ankle)- Questionable - He is another game time decision. With Ben Watson having a good year at TE, Graham is only worth a 3rd TE backup role.

QB Tom Brady (Shoulder)- Probable - It appears that Brady will be starting with no problems. He had a rough game two weeks ago against Miami before the off week. Do not let that bad game convince you to bench him. He is a must start every week.

WR Donte' Stallworth (Hamstring)- Questionable - Stallworth did practice on Friday but only ran a few routes. He will be a game time decision. Even if he plays, he will not be a full strength. I would keep him on the bench this week. Hopefully he will be full strength for next week's game.

RB Brian Westbrook (Knee)- Questionable - ESPN's John Clayton and the Philadelphia Inquirer are both reporting that Westbrook will play. If John Clayton reports it, then it must be true.

WR Reggie Brown (Quadricep)- Probable - It appears that he will play. He had a huge game last week. I would not count on such a great game but he should be a good #3 starter for you.

TE L.J. Smith (Shoulder)- Probable - L.J. will play on Sunday. If you have him, he should be starting for your team. He has played like a fantasy starter all year.

QB Chris Simms (Splenectomy)- Out - The expectation is that he will go on the IR for the year any day. Until they do this, keep him stashed on your injured list just in case.

WR Mark Jones (Hamstring)- Questionable - He did not play all week. At best he is a number 5 or 6 fantasy wide for any team.

QB Michael Vick (Shoulder)- Probable - Vick practiced on Thursday and Friday. He will play on Sunday. It is being reported that he is unhappy with the offense. His situation could be troublesome. He is safe to start but keep an ear to the complaints. It could become interesting in Atlanta.

WR Vincent Jackson (Groin)- Questionable - The Rookie speedster has an injured groin. This is a troublesome and lingering type of injury especially for someone with speed. Keep him on your bench and hope that he gets some time to properly heal. He did not practice all week.

QB Trent Green (Head)- Out - Green has been cleared for practice. He is not expected to play before week 9. If it does not work out, maybe Troy Aikman can get him a gig with commercials for bricks and hot wings. I would not trust him as a starter until he proves himself in a game or two.

WR David Patten (Thigh)- Probable - He appears ready to play. Do you really want to start him?

RB Dominic Rhodes (Ankle)- Questionable - He will be a game time decision. If he plays, he will continue to split carries with Addai. The Colts' running game has been non-existent for most of the season. There is no reason to start Rhodes even if he is able to play.

WR Brandon Stokley (Knee)- Questionable - He has been ruled out to play this week. His left knee was injured on October 8th.

K Adam Vinatieri (Right Groin)- Questionable - Rotoworld is reporting that he is 99% sure he will play on Sunday. He should be starting unless Indy signs Gramatica again. I don't know about the rest of you but this will help my fantasy team.

WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep)- Questionable - It appears that he will be downgraded to Doubtful even though he practiced all week. Keep the rookie on the bench.

WR Amani Toomer (Calf)- Probable - He practiced on Friday. He should be a go for Sunday. He is a safe play for your team.

Jerry Porter- top WR to Troubemaker- Suspended for 4 Games

The Counselor is IN:

It is hard to remember that Jerry Porter was the Raiders top receiver last year. He had a better season than the much touted and maligned Randy Moss. If you would have told me in June that a Raider receiver would self implode by week 6, I would have assumed it would be Randy. How wrong I would have been.

Porter has been trying to get himself traded since training camp. I don't know if he just hates Art Shell or if he just stopped caring. His attitude has got him so far in the dog house that he has not even seen the field in any games this season.

How far in the dog house do you have to be to go from best receiver one year to not being on the field? He has done a lot of stupid things this season. He was seen cheering on the side lines when his QB was sacked for the millionth time in one game. He intentionally parked in Al Davis' parking spot during practice one day. Now he has been suspended for 4 games for by Art Shell and it will cost him $235,000 of his $1 million base salary.

He was also given permission to seek a trade. The trade has to be finalized by October 17th. He was given 3 days to get a trade? I hope he is a fast worker or the only thing he will see after the suspension will be more bench time.

The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the suspension may not hold up because of the reason of the suspension. Apparently, Friday's practice was very long and "chaotic". According to the article, several players were grumbling about it. Art Shell heard Porter complaining about it and asking if practice "was going to last three hours or what?"

Porter has deserved to be suspended earlier in the year. I am sure that Shell had selective hearing on who he heard complaining about the practice. I am also sure that Porter was not trying to be quiet about his opinion and was not just over heard. He deserves to be made an example out of but I am not sure it will happen. If not, I am sure that he will do something soon that will be stupid enough to be suspended for.

I have always liked Art Shell. I was very happy to see him get another chance at being a head coach. He was given a horrible team to coach. He needs to turn them around and win their hearts. He will not get the opportunity to do this until Porter is no longer a factor. I hope he is given a chance. Al Davis is not known for giving much of a chance to his coaches.

NFL Week 6 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

Here is week 6 Injury List and what I think.

WR Roy Williams (Back) - Probable -He practiced Friday. His coach stated that he looked really good in practice. He will play and is a must start.

RB DeAngelo Williams (Ankle) - Out - He is out for this week and maybe the next. Look for Foster to get a lot of carries for the Panthers.

WR Mark Clayton (Neck) - Questionable - He was added to the list on Friday. This is never a good sign. Bench him and play someone else.

TE Todd Heap (Ankle) - Probable - He was upgraded to probable today. He practiced a full practice on Friday. He is ready to start. You should be ready to start him also.

QB Chris Simms (Splenectomy)- Out - He is still out and will be most of the season. Place him on your injury list and leave him there.

QB Trent Green (Head) - Out - What does Green have in common with Aikman and Young- how about a career ending concussion. He is listed as out for at least 4 more weeks. I wonder if Green will be with Fox or ESPN the next time we see him.

RB Larry Johnson (Neck) - Probable - He practiced on Thursday and Friday. If you have Johnson, you would be crazy not to start him especially against a beat up Steelers defense.

QB Daunte Culpepper (Knee) - Doubtful - He has been ruled out for the next two weeks but is still listed as doubtful. He has started practicing. If you have been hanging onto Culpepper, you have to be asking yourself WHY?

TE Randy McMichael (Ribs) - Probable - He practiced all week. He had his best game last week. Who knew that Harrington would be helpful for McMichael?

WR Laveranues Coles (Calf) - Questionable - He should play but he did not practice fully on Friday. He hates the Dolphins so he will be on the field if he can. You might want to watch for the announcement on Sunday morning to verify that he will play.

RB Kevan Barlow (Calf) - Probable - He will play and should start. Washington stole a bunch of carries last week when Barlow only ended up with 4 carries. Washington could continue to steal carries but probably not that many. It is enough to bench Barlow.

WR Sinorice Moss (Quadricep) - Out -He is out and will remain out for some time. Moss will not be the rookie of the year or even for your team. He is worth keeping in a keeper league. Otherwise, try to get something for him.

TE Jeremy Shockey (Foot) - Probable - He practiced fully this week. Start him and reap the rewards.

RB Jerious Norwood (Shoulder)- Questionable - He did practice fully this week so he should play but he is the backup and he should remain a backup for your team unless Dunn gets injured.

WR Donte' Stallworth (Hamstring) - Doubtful - He missed all the practices this week. He will not play but it will give Baskett a chance to play. Baskett looked good last week but I would not run out and make him your starter yet.

RB Brian Westbrook (Knee) - Questionable - He practiced on Wednesday and Thursday but got Friday off. He will likely play. If you can, make him a game time decision.

WR Devery Henderson (Shoulder) - Probable - He has practiced with no problems. He is the Saints # 3 WR. This means that you should not pick him up unless you are in a huge league.

TE Vernon Davis (Fibula) -Out - He is out at least another 3 weeks. Hold onto him in a keeper league. Otherwise, cut your loses.

RB Shaun Alexander (Foot) - Out - Alexander is clearly out. Hang on while you suffer through this injury. Holmgren does not want him on the field until he is completely healed. That could be a while.

WR Bobby Engram (Illness) - Out - He has been "recently diagnosed with a thyroid condition." (Rotoworld) He is out and Branch will start in his place. Get well soon Bobby.

WR Drew Bennett (Ankle) - Questionable - He practiced on Friday. His fantasy value is iffy with Young being the QB.

RB LenDale White (Stomach) - Questionable - He has the flu and has missed practice all week. He is a game time decision. He is not a fantasy stud yet so bench him and put in a backup if you can.

K Rob Bironas (Groin) - Probable - It looks like he will play.

WR David Patten (Thigh) - Questionable - Patten is a game time decision. It should not be a decision for you. Leave him on the bench.

WR Larry Fitzgerald (Hamstring) - Doubtful - He is out and could miss 5 weeks. This sucks for your fantasy team if you have Larry. Sorry.

NFL Week 5 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

TE- Desmond Clark - Questionable - Foot - He practiced Friday. He should play but he is not a great fantasy play. I would use a different TE if possible.

RB Reuben Droughns- Questionable- Shoulder- He practiced on Thursday and Friday. He should be a solid play at as a RB 2.

WR Joe Jurevicius- Questionable- Ribs - He practiced on Weds, Thurs, and Friday. He will play but he is not a starter for the Browns. If he can not start for the Browns, he should not start for you.

TE Kellen Winslow- Questionable- Knee - He missed at least part of every practice this week. He did play last week even though he did not practice. He is a game time decision. If you have to have him in before game time, I would bench him.

WR Donte' Stallworth-Doubtful- Hamstring- He has not practiced at all this week. It is reported that he is making progress. I would not count on him to be on the field.

RB Brian Westbrook-Questionable- Knee- Here is another Eagle that did not practice at all this week. I would not count on Westbrook to play this weekend.

WR Hank Baskett-Probable- Shoulder- This undrafted free agent rookie might start this weekend. I would not want to be counting on him for my fantasy team even if Stallworth is out.

WR Reggie Brown- Probable- Shoulder- He will play and start. There are no ifs about it. He should be the primary target for McNabb. He makes a great WR3.

TE L.J. Smith-Probable- Shoulder- L.J. will play. He has only been affective in one game this season. I would not count on him being productive against the Cowboys.

WR Larry Fitzgerald- Probable- Ankle- Larry practiced yesterday. He is playing against the Chiefs which could be good. Leinert is now his QB. The question is how Leinert will perform. Fitzgerald is a definite starter no matter who is tossing him the ball.

WR Chad Jackson-Questionable- Hamstring- He missed part of practice on again on Friday. He is expected to play. Jackson is a great prospect who might become a fantasy starter in the future. He is not right now.

QB Tom Brady- Probable- Shoulder- Brady will play. He is a must play every week.

WR Laveranues Coles- Questionable- Calf- Not only does Coles have a calf injury, but he also injured his wrist last weekend. He is wearing a brace on his right wrist. I would leave Coles on the bench this week and check his progress next week.

QB Chad Pennington- Probable- Calf- Chad will play. He is a marginal fantasy starter and a solid backup.

WR Matt Jones- Out- Hamstring- He is out. Matt may be loosing his starting job with Reggie Williams playing well.

TE Vernon Davis- Out- Fibula- He has a broken leg and he will not be playing for a while.

WR Eric Parker-Questionable- Hamstring- Parker is a very iffy to play. I would leave him on your bench.

WR Robert Ferguson-Doubtful- Foot- Ferguson was a fantasy stud 5 years ago. Those days are long passed. Even if he played this weekend, he would not be a good fantasy play.

WR Donald Driver-Questionable- Ribs- Driver missed practice with a rib injury. Not a good sign to start.

RB Ahman Green- Questionable- Hamstring- See comments on Ferguson. He also has Vernand Morency stealing carries. Not a good play.

QB Brett Favre-Possible- Head- He is playing this weekend and he is playing against the Rams. He is not a great starter at this point in his career but he is a good spot starter.

QB Chris Simms- Out- Splenectomy- I look for Simms to be put on the IR and to be done for the season.

WR David Givens-Out- Hand- He has a broken thumb and could miss several weeks.

TE Erron Kinney- Out- Knee- He is not close to practicing nor is he worth owning.

WR Drew Bennett-Questionable- Quadricep- Bennett has practiced for three straight days. He should play. His issue will be Young at QB. Bennett would be a marginal fantasy starter at this time.

WR Brandon Stokley-Questionable- Ankle- He practiced 2 days in row. It appears that he will play but he will not start with Harrison and Wayne starting. Stokely should remain on the bench unless he will start getting a lot of looks and can stay health.

K Adam Vinatieri-probable- Right Groin- Martin Gramatica was re-signed on Saturday. This does not put much confidence in Vinatieri's status for Sunday.

WR Sinorice Moss-Out Quadricep- He has been ruled out for this weekend. It is doubtful that he will make a fantasy impact this weekend.

TE Todd Heap-Questionable- Thigh- He was added to the injury list on Friday. He is not safe to start.

NFL Week 4 Fantasy Injuries

The Counselor is IN:

RB- Reuben Droughns- Questionable - Shoulder - He missed practice on Thursday but states that he will play. If he is able to practice tomorrow, then he will probably play but if he misses, then keep him on the bench.

TE-Kellen Winslow- Questionable -Knee - He has not practiced all week. His coach is saying that he may never be back to normal. Partially back, Winslow has had a good season so far but be careful with him if he does not practice tomorrow.

WR- Terrell Owens- Questionable - Hand- Did he try to commit suicide or not? We may never know. We almost have forgotten about his broken finger but not quite. He practiced today and looked good. He is going to be ready. He is a huge distraction and a cancer in the locker room but this boy does have game. Start him unless Parcells decides to leave him at home.

WR- Brandon Stokley- Questionable -Ankle- He is unlikely to play. He should not be a regular starter anyway. Keep him on your bench.

WR- Laveranues Coles- Questionable- Calf - He is going to be a game time decision. He did not practice on Thursday. He is a risk to start but he has been very productive. I would check and see if he practices on Friday before making this decision.

RB- Kevan Barlow- Probable- Calf- Barlow will play this week. You should not start Barlow except for off week coverage at this time. This week he might start losing some carries to Washington and Houston. They are playing the Colts. I doubt if the group gets more than 15 carries combined.

QB- Chad Pennington- Probable- Calf- He has practiced fully for a couple of days. He is a good start against an Indy defense with some secondary injuries. The Colts will score a lot and the Jets will have to try to keep up with them.

WR- Matt Jones- Probable - Groin- He practiced on Wednesday. He will play on Sunday. He has good potential against Washington this weekend. He should be a WR 3 or 4 for you.

RB- Murice Jones-Drew- Probable- Ankle - Murice will play this weekend. He is still behind Fred "Glass Legs" Taylor, who has had a great year so far. Drew will not have 103 running this week. He should start getting a few more touches a game but I would still keep him on the bench until Taylor gets injured.

RB- Chester Taylor- Probable -Ankle- He was just added to the injury report. Unless he gets worse, He will start this weekend. They are playing Buffalo. Taylor is a solid fantasy starter every week but I think he will have a huge game against the Bills.

WR- Chad Jackson- Questionable -Hamstring- He missed a portion of practice on Thursday. If he is better or not, you should not start Jackson. Rookie Wide Receivers break your heart. 3rd year Wide Outs, pad your stats.

WR- Doug Gabriel- Probable -Hamstring- Doug also missed part of practice on Thursday. He should play on Sunday. It is unknown if he will be starting over Caldwell. He seems to be winning over Brady so he might be a decent off week start at WR.

WR- Antonio Chatman- Questionable -Groin- He is getting better. He made some good plays last year for Green Bay. He is clearly at best a number 4 wide for the Bengals. Unless Henry gets arrested (again), Chatman is probably too far down on the depth chart to be a consistent factor.

WR- T.J. Houshmandzadeh- Probable -Foot- Last week, I did not think that Housh would play much and did not have much fantasy value. I have him in two leagues. 2 losses for not starting him. Start Housh. He practiced today. He is getting close to being fully back. Again I say: START HOUSH.

WR- Steve Smith- Probable- Thigh- Smith has been dominating when listed at questionable. He is now upgraded. There is no reason not to start him if you have him.

WR- Keenan McCardell- Questionable- Hamstring- He is probably going to play. He is playing against the Raven's Defense. Keenan is also 36 years old. Start someone else, at least this week.

TE- Todd Heap- Questionable- Ankle- He missed practiced again today. If he practices tomorrow, then it should be fine to start him. Otherwise, use your second TE, if you can bear it.

RB- Shaun Alexander- OUT- Foot- broken- Shaun is out. If you have him, you better have already picked up Morris or had him handcuffed. This might be an injury that goes on for a while. Alexander makes his money with quick clean cuts and with a broken foot, which will be very difficult any time soon. Start your #3 RB or Morris.

TE- Jerramy Stevens- OUT- Knee- Stevens is out because of tearing his meniscus in his left knee. He might be back next week.

TE- Desmond Clark- Questionable- Foot- He did not practice this week. Even if he plays, he is not a TE that you want starting for your team.

TE- Vernon Davis- OUT- Fibula- Davis is expected to miss four weeks with a cracked fibula in his leg.

RB- Frank Gore- Questionable- Ribs- He has been practicing. It appears that he will start. He should have a great week against a bad Chiefs Defense.

QB- Trent Green- OUT- Head (concussion) - The hit that knocked him out of the game looked bad. It must have been because he is still out. I am sure Trent's age is not helping anything.

RB- Ahman Green- Probable- Rib- Ahman has been practicing. He will play. He is not a good play against the Eagle defense.

WR- Donte Stallworth- Questionable- Hamstring- He has a slight strain in his hamstring. He has been Donavan's favorite target this year but this injury is a concern. I would bench him until you can get a better feel of how this will affect Stallworth.

RB- Brian Westbrook- Questionable - Knee- He will probably play just like he did last week, which killed me in my game. Play him if you have him.

WR- Reggie Brown- Probable- Shoulder-He practiced on Wednesday and today. He will play. He could be the primary receiver for McNabb. He is a good number 3 receiver.

TE- L.J. Smith- Probable- Shoulder- He will play. He should be a good play against Green Bay.

Pink's Pre-Game theme song for Sunday Night

The Counselor is IN:

This is week 2 of the NFL season. I am sitting back excited to watch my Cowboys (please don't hold it against me) play on Sunday Night Football. The rock star Pink comes on the pre-game and belts out her Sunday night rock song-"Waiting All Day for Sunday Night". I was originally skeptical of Pink doing the pre-game football theme song for Sunday Night Football. I had to ask myself, will a female rock star get people motivated for football?

Hank Williams Jr. has preformed for us for years for Monday Night Football. I dislike Hank's music (and all country music). I have grown to love that opening scene with him singing on Monday night. I believe that it has become a Pavlov behavioral modification reaction because I get football when I hear the theme song. I think I even salivate.

It has not taken me long to crank the TV when Pink comes on for the Sunday theme. I have always enjoyed Pink's music. I love this song. In my opinion the Sunday night anthem rocks. It reminds me of the great 80's female rockers like Joan Jett and Pat Benetar. In fact, Pink's theme song- "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" is set to Joan Jett's "I Hate Myself for Loving You." I am not salivating yet when I hear it but I am sure I will be salivating by the end of the season.

Pink was a great selection to perform on Sunday Night. I am sorry I ever doubted. I am still humming the song. Thanks NBC for opening my mind.

Injury Report Week 2

The Counselor is IN:

Todd Heap: Questionable- He is expected to play but you might want to check and see if he practices on Friday before making your final decision. He missed the last couple of days with back issues.

Jamal Lewis: Questionable- He has a Hip injury and has not practiced. Check and see if he practices tomorrow. You know he wants to run on the porous Oakland defense.

Matt Stover: Questionable- He is suffering with back issues. He is not a fantasy starter so bench him.

TJ Houshmandzadeh: Probable- He has a foot injury. There are rumors that the Bengals will keep him on the bench to ensure that he is ready for week 3's match up with Pittsburgh. Watch Rotoworld for updates on him. If he remains probable, then he is probably a good gamble to start.

Joe Jurevicius: Out- He has a rib injury. He is probably out 6-8 weeks but it could be longer.

Mike Vanderjagt: Questionable- He is fighting a groin injury. He is not a good start until you see what he is going to do on the field. Parcells is going to keep a backup for him and Parcells is mad about it.

Mike Bell: Probable- He has a finger injury. This should not slow down Mike. He should get the goal line carries and many others on Sunday against the Chiefs.

Javon Walker: Questionable- He has a "slightly dislocated" finger and it appeared to affect his catches on Sunday. Until he is healthy and Plummer proves himself, Walker is a gamble to start.

Brandon Stokley: Questionable- He has an ankle injury. Right now he is 50/50 to play. Bench him and pick someone else.

Trent Green: Concussion- what does Green have in common with Hall of Famers Aikman and Young? Concussions at Green's age causing them to retire. Hmmmn. A trend. Do not start him at least until after he plays a game or two.

Tom Brady: Shoulder- He is probably and he will play. He appears to be missing his favorite target. Oh that his because he is in Seattle now. Brady is still a must start player no matter who he is throwing the ball to.

Doug Gabriel: Hamstring- He is probable. I don't have a feel for his role on this team yet. Wait to see what Gabriel can do for the Patriots. He might be a stud or a dud.

Chad Jackson: Hamstring- Questionable. He is a highly touted rookie but he has been injured during most of training camp. He might be a future stud but this will not be the game.

Jeremy Shockey: Ankle- He is probable. He will not miss the division rivals of the Eagles. I expect him to play and score this week.

Sinorice Moss: Quadricep- He is Questionable this week. He is not a good play at this time. Let the rookie develop a little.

Aaron Brooks: Knee- It is Questionable. He is not a good start in perfect health.

Hines Ward: Hamstring- He is going to play this weekend. I would start him.

Ben Roethlisberger: It was reported that he was impressive in practice today. Start him if he is your first QB. If not, let him ride the bench.

Vernon Davis: Hip- He is Probable and I expect him to play with weekend.

Chris Brown: Turf Toe- He is Probable. Turf toe is a bad running back injury. I continue to cause issues. Beware. I would not start him even if he starts and plays on Sunday.

Travis Henry
: Toe- He is listed as doubtful but "Coach Jeff Fisher said in his daily press conference that Travis Henry 'looked much better' Thursday, and the team will upgrade his status." (Rotoworld). I still would not start Henry unless you are very desperate.

Clinton Portis:
Questionable- His shoulder looked good on Monday night. He will play on Sunday Night football against the hated Cowboys (Go Cowboys- I am a fan after all).

That is the major injuries for Week Two. You can click on this blog post title and it will take you the actual injury report.

Injury Update/ Status Update- part 2- Week1

The Counselor is IN:

Steve Smith- Still Questionable- keep him on the bench this week.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh- I am going to do a full 180. Housh is very questionable for this week. I thought he would start and be a stud but there is no guarantee that he will start. In fact, it appears that the Bengals are comfortable with starting Henry in his place. Bench Housh this week unless you hear that he is starting right before the game.

Musa Smith- Musa is now the 2nd on the depth chart. He is ahead of Mike Anderson on the depth chart. If he is available in a keeper league, then he is worth a flyer.

Jerry Porter- He continues to be in the dog house in Oakland. He parked in Al Davis' parking spot on Wednesday. I would not count on him for anything at this point.

Peter Warrick- He is expected to play this season for the Lions after being released from the Seahawks. He is not a sleeper or a good pick at this time.

Jeremy Shockey- He was added to the injury list as probably with an ankle injury. He will play. I would not bench him.

Derrick Mason- He has been upgrade to probable. He should play on Sunday. He is not a good fantasy play this week going against a tough Tampa Bay defense. He is at best a 4th WR.

Jamal Lewis- He has also been upgraded to probable. If you have other options, you might want to with them instead of Lewis against Tampa Bay.

Clinton Portis- He has stated that he will not be ready until week 2. Do not play him this week.

LenDale White- He practiced on Friday but may not be active for week one. He is not a good fantasy starter at this point even if he plays.

Injury Update- Week 1

The Counselor is IN:

Here are the key injuries on the NFL injury list.

Ben Roethlisberger- He is out for at least this week. He had an appendectomy so he should not have any long lasting affects of this minor surgery.

Hines Ward- He is probable with his hamstring. He is going to play. How will he be affected by Charlie Batch throwing the ball instead of Roethlisberger? I am not sure. I think he is still a fantasy starter.

Steve Smith- He is listed as questionable. Here is another hamstring injury. He had a hamstring injury earlier in pre-season. This injury is on his other leg. It is hard not to start Smith but I am convinced that it would not be a great decision to start him. Even if he plays, he will not be back to full strength yet. Give him at least another week.

Jamal Lewis- He is listed as questionable. How healthy is Lewis and how healthy can he stay this year? I would not look at starting him this week or many weeks of this season. His team is also playing the tough Tampa Bay Defense. My advice is to let him ride the bench.

Derrick Mason- He is also listed as questionable. Mason is a marginal starter at best. He has some upside by reuniting with McNair. I would leave Mason on the bench until off weeks demand that he plays.

Tom Brady- He is listed as Probable. Brady will play. He will be a solid QB this weekend. Start him if you have him.

Doug Gabriel- Gabriel is listed as Probable. Until you get a feel of what Gabriel's role will be on the Patriots, he is an iffy start. He will play but we are not sure how much he will play.

Cedric Benson- He is listed as questionable. The rumors out of Chicago are that he will play but he is not the starter and he is injury prone. He has great potential for the future but he is not a good start for week one.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh- He is listed as probable. He is going to play and he has a great match up with the Chiefs. Look for him to have a great game. I know I am starting him in 2 leagues.

Mike Vanderjagt- He is questionable. A questionable kicker is one that should be on the bench.

Adam Vinatieri- Another questionable kicker. Another kicker on the fantasy bench. I don't care who your back up is, I would start the back up for this week.

LenDale White- He is listed at questionable. He is not starting. He is a good keeper but not a very good start week one. To the bench with him.

Jerramy Stevens- He is listed as out for this week. Stevens will not play until the middle of October, at the earliest. If he is your TE stud, you need to go to the waiver wires and find a new TE.

Matt Leinart- Leinart is probable. He should be able to play if Warner gets hurt. He is not a starter at this point. He might be if Warner gets hurt this season.

Clinton Portis- He is listed as questionable. He is a risky player this season. The separated shoulder has sent him spirally down. When healthy, he will still have to worry about Duckett and Betts stilling carries especially at the goal line. I would not start him this week if you have any better options.

Those are the major injuries. Check out the complete injury list at NFL.com.

Breaking News

The Counselor is IN:

There have been a few important fantasy nuggets today.

1) Raiders sign - Jeff George out of retirement to play for them. It is unknown at this time what the plans are for George. We doubt that he will press Brooks for the starting job but it certainly is not an endorsement of Brooks. For now just know that the 38 year old attitude with a canon for an arm is back and he is on the same team with Randy Moss. Most interesting.

2) Donte' Stallworth is traded to the Eagles for an undisclosed draft pick and LB Mark Simoneau. The speculation is that Stallworth will start right away opposite of Reggie Brown. He is being thrown into a new offense and he is not the most consistent of players even if he knows what is going on. He could be a huge pick up for them or he could end up the same inconsistent Stallworth that has been playing for the Saints.

3) Kerry Collins signs with the Titans. We knew that this might be coming. This is also a sign that the Titans are not fully endorsing Volek. The rumors have the Titans trying to trade Volek. Volek went from a possible good #2 QB to totally off the radar.

4) The big news of the day: Gregg Jones is out for the season with a torn ACL. (I have had an ACL repair and it is no fun). Many people had high expectations for Jones. He was suppose to be splitting some time with Fred Taylor and would be his backup. Many believed that when Taylor gets hurt this season (as he always does) then Jones would take over the starting position and would not let it go. That is not going to happen this year. This does greatly increase the value of Maurice Drew. Drew can not be expected to be the miracle man for the Jags but he is a very solid back up to "Glass Legs" Taylor.

Fantasy Draft # 1- Tomorrow night

I will be attending the first of two fantasy drafts of my season tomorrow night. It is a 10 team keeper league. I will let the readers know how it went.

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

Ward is possibily out for first week

Hines Ward is nursing a sore hamstring. He is in good company with T.O. and Steve Smith also nursing hamstring injuries. Rotoworld is stating that Ward may not be healthy enough to play the first week of the season. It is an injury to watch and to be aware of but I would not lower Ward on your draft list.

T.J. Duckett Trade- What does it mean for your draft?

The Counselor is IN:

T.J. Duckett was traded yesterday from the Falcons to the Redskins. Duckett only had one year left on his contract and he has never panned out the way the Falcons had envisioned him working out. What does this trade mean to you?

1) The Redskins gave a 3rd or 4th round pick up for Duckett. This speaks volumes on the health of Portis. I would move Portis down your list for the draft. I would keep him the second tier of running backs but I would not draft him 4th over all any longer.

2) This will slightly increase Duckett's value. Portis is still the Redskins man when healthy. Duckett should end up with a some of the goal line carries even when Portis returns. His value is more increased in TD Heavy or TD only leagues. I moved him up a Tier in my rankings.

3) Betts, RB- Redskins, value is dropped significantly. Betts was the backup for Portis and looked to have some fantasy value but now he will need injuries to Duckett to gain any value. I would drop him off of your draft sheets if you had him on there.

4) Lelie, WR (formerly of the Broncos), was involved in this trade and is now in Atlanta. He was in the dog house in Denver. He is now 3rd on the depth cart for Atlanta. He is behind Michael Jenkins and Roddy White. White is a similar type of receiver to Lelie so it could affect his sleeper status. Lelie should move up a few positions and White down a few but I would not go crazy with moving either one. Neither one should be a fantasy starter.

5) Dunn, RB- Falcons, will be greatly affected by this trade and it should affect Dunn's value. Duckett was always getting the goal line carries for the Falcons instead of Dunn. Dunn should now get the majority of the Goal line carries. This should mean more TD's for Dunn. Move him up your draft sheet and expect more scoring from him.

Greg Lewis of the Eagles Update

The Counselor is IN:

According to Rotoworld, Greg Lewis is fighting hard just to keep himself from being cut from the Eagles. I had him ranked (fairly low but still ranked) in the receiver rankings. I would drop him off all draft lists at this time. Even if he makes the team, it sounds like he will be buried in the depth chart and will have no fantasy value. Here is what Rotoworld has to say about him, "He's a long way from catching a touchdown in the Super Bowl." He is no where close to being a sleeper. My advice: Cut bait and run (fishing analog) .

Wide Receiver Ranking Update

The Counselor is IN:

Here are my updated rankings for Wide Receivers. I had a friend, Cham, mention to me that he feels that Steve Smith should be the no brain top overall wide receiver. Most of the rankings that I have seen do have him listed as the number 1 wide receiver. I have him listed at number 5 and still in the top level but not as my number one. I put Johnson, Holt, Owens, and Harrison in front of him because they have consistently been fantasy stud wide outs for years. Smith does not have the track record of these 4 other wide receivers. But it would not surprise me if Smith does end up as the best wide receiver.

Owens has been out injured and Parcels already is about to blow a gasket with him but I think he will produce huge numbers as usual. Harrison should continue to catch double digit touchdowns. Randy Moss should have a better year no matter who their quarterback is. Fitzgerald and Boldin should be helped by the Cardinals getting better. Roy Williams should be helped by the Martz offense. Javon Walker looks healthy and could come back to stud level. Mason is helped by McNair's arrival. Kevin Curtis will win the starting job next to Holt by the end of the season.

Runningback Ranking Update

The Counselor is IN:

Here are my updated rankings for Runningbacks. Of course there is the big three. You could not go wrong with choosing Alexander, Tomlinson, or Johnson first over all. Portis has some questions with injuries but his upside is tremendous for this season. # 5 through 10 can be interchanged. Dillion could be iffy and has not looked that great in the preseason His back up Maroney has looked great. Bush has shot up my draft list with some great performances but I would bet that McCallister will get the most goal line carries if he stays healthy. McCallister could pull a Bettis and be worthwhile for the score and not as much for the yardage. Taylor seems to have locked up the Vikings starting roll. Westbrook has looked like a great back in the preseason. Gore is now the starter for the 49ers with Barlow being traded to the Jets and Barlow should be their starter with Martin out for the year.

Updated Quarterback Rankings

The Counselor is IN:

Here is my updated Rankings for Quarterbacks. There is some concern about Palmer not being ready for the season. Many are dropping him in the rankings because of it. I think he will be back and will be a stud. Roethlisberger looks really good since the motorcycle accident and I think they will be opening up the pass more. Bulger is looking comfortable in his offense. Culpepper is looking healthy and could be a sleeper. Bledsoe could be on a short chain with Tony Romo looking so good in pre-season for Dallas. McNair looks good as a Raven. Losman looks like he should win the starting job but do you really want him?

Portis Update

The Counselor is IN:

Clinton Portis has a separated shoulder. The ball and socket came out and then back into place on the tackle. This will continue to be evaluated. Here is what Rotoworld has to say about it.

Ladell Betts was not with the team for tonight's game. This is why Rock Cartwright came into the game with Portis' injury. I have been unable to find out why Betts was not with the team for this pre-season game.

Portis Injured

The Counselor is IN:

Clinton Portis- RB- Washington Redskins was taken off the field tonight with a shoulder injury. This could be a big blow to the Washington Redskins and to your fantasy league. If you have Portis or draft Portis, then you will want to also pick up his back up. In this case, Ladell Betts is listed as his backup on Official Redskins website. In the game, he was actually replaced by Rock Cartwright. The severity of the injury is unknown. It is also unknown who will take his place in the starting lineup if he remains injured. I would probably lean towards adding Cartwright at this time. I will update this as we get more info.
