Are you ready for some football!!!

Happy NFL Opening Day! It is the day the multitude of football fans have anticipated. It is also the day of the year my wife has been dreading. If you are a fan, enjoy tonight's offensive powerhouses of the Colts and Saints. If you are not, then please enjoy your evening anyway.

Where ever you enjoy tonight's festivities, be safe out there and watch out for the other guy.

These have been a few eager thoughts of my complex mind.

Week 1 Fantasy Injuries- Thursday Game Only

Here are the Week 1 fantasy injuries for the Thursday game and my commentary.

There are no significant players injured in this game. In case you have an interest in non-significant players, then here are a couple of injuries.

TE Mark Campbell, Saints, is listed as out for the game. Since he is their #2 TE, he should not be your #1. Bench him if you have him and then pick up someone for him. He is not worth owning.

TE Mike Seidman, Colts, was placed on injured reserve and is out for the season. He is their 4th TE. If he landed on your team by mistake, get rid of him quickly even if it is for a cheerleader.

I will have the injuries for the rest of the league later in the week.

Try to wait patiently for the NFL to start

The Counselor is IN:

After having four weeks of preseason games, this weekend had none. No games except the reruns of these same preseason games on the NFL network. Preseason games are not the same as regular season games but they are better than no games at all.

I am salivating at the thought of real NFL games starting on Thursday. This is also the start of the Fantasy Football season. Thursday is the day that I have been anticipating since the end of the Super Bowl.

In an attempt to wait patiently, I am currently watching the Monday Night College game with Florida State and Clemson (Clemson just scored). At least it is real football. I am sure I would have watched this game anyway, but for now it is my NFL substitute.

Luckily, there is only three days to go.

Friday Night in a Small Town

This weekend is the unofficial start of autumn. In honor of the coming of Fall, I celebated by attending a small town football game. Growing up in a small town, I have spent dozens if not hundreds of Friday nights in the stands cheering for my team. The weather does not change the attendance of pigskin games in a small town.

It was a great night for a football game. The evening started a little warm but by the end of the game the weather was cool like an autumn evening. The grass was beautifully green and perfectly cut. The anticipation of players on both teams poured out with bumping of chest but only one team would leave still undefeated. The crowd stuffed into the stadium with lines building for the flavored delicacies of nachos and pretzels. I was enchanted with nostalgic memories of growing up with the weekly tradition of attending games.

Even though Summer is my favorite season, I do love the arrival of Autumn and small towns hosting Friday night football.
